When I got this mod it seems to me like the original one. It pretty much the same, with same screen, same system menu and same design overall. Anyway, forgetting about the original it’s pretty cool with its dual 18650 batteries with 180 w max. It constructed with die-cast aluminum alloy frame, advanced LSR injection Moulding technology. It comes with the real military grade mod, stylish and extreme durability, and with a 0.96 inch screen. Univ.pro chipset inside, more intelligent and safety. The Captain V Sub-Ohm Tank featuring 5ml max of eliquid, convenient top-fill,dual slotted bottom airflow.
Deep inside IJOY Captain 2
When it comes to the body we can see a well-built mod. It looks nice and tactical. It feels solid, modern and elegant. The fire button is rectangular, big one, clicky and it is positioned on the side of the mod, easy to click on. Below the screen are the up and down buttons which is rattles a little bit and below them is the micro USB port under a rubber plug that prevents dust from getting in. It features a large black and white 0.96-inch screen that’s clear and easy to read, but on a sunny day you will face some difficulties to see what’s on the screen.
About the size, it is not small but also not big. It will fit between your hands. It’s comparable to other rugged dual battery mods. The 510 pin is great and gave me no issues with any atomizer. It fits a 30 mm atomizer without overhang. The 510 is centered and the whole mod itself is symmetrical, very good.
It comes with 5 color options which is nice. There is a leather on both sides, very comfy. There is a small “iJoy” logo above the screen. The back panel is carbon fiber styled with a Captain 2 logo at the bottom. The battery door is a standard latch system on the bottom, similar to the Aegis Legend. It is a little bit difficult to open the battery door. Overall, it’s a great looking and well-built mod. But with a little rattling and a little bit hard to open the battery door.
The Captain 2 mod has all the features we’ve seen on iJoy mods over the past years. You have Power mode with soft, normal, hard, and user preheat options. Temp control mode for Ni200, Ti, SS and TCR. In other words, all the needed features we expect to have in a regulated mod are here.
As far as the menu goes, it’s the same as the original Captain.
- Five clicks of the fire button to turn on and off
- Three clicks to enter the menu
- Use up and down in the menu to select modes and fire to accept
- In TC mode, pressing up first lets you adjust the watts, pressing down first lets you adjust the power
- Up and down to lock resistance in TC mode and to lock the mod (locks adjustment buttons only, can still fire)
They used Univ pro chip-set, with more power, speed, intelligent and safe.
Testing the ijoy captain 2
As a result During my testing the mod did a great job of not getting hot. From an accuracy standpoint it’s a mostly accurate mod. It struggled a little and hit a bit low when I tested it with a 0.1-ohm coil, which is fairly common. Overall, it tends to hit a little high. Also worth noting is that on normal they have a forced hard preheat.
Overall, They also list a 1.5-amp charge rate and, while I don’t recommend charging your batteries internally if it can be avoided, I did test it. The max I got was 1.87 amps so very good rating and even a little understated. Most that are rated for 2 amps will charge at that speed more or less, so even a 2-amp rating would have been acceptable. Good job with that.
I really like its performance with a lot of airflow and it delivers the flavor in a great way.
Captain V Tank
Firstly, the preinstalled coil is a 0.15-ohm X-3 mesh coil rated at 40-90 watts and the other included is a 0.4-ohm X3-C1 coil rated 60-90 watts.
Secondly, the tank comes with a straight glass (2 mL) and a bubble glass (5 mL). The coils screw into the base like in many other tanks. They are easy to remove and replace by unscrewing the base and just unscrewing them. You can’t do it with a full tank; it needs to be empty.
Finally, it uses a standard wide bore 810 O-ring fitted drip tip which is pretty plain but fits very nicely. A resin tip would have been better in my opinion though. All the threading on the tank is nice and smooth, and the top cap can be easily removed for filling. It has two large fill holes for juice and it’s very easy to fill. The airflow control is also smooth, easy to adjust and on a stopper.
Final thoughts about IJOY Captain 2 kit
In conclusion, the Captain 2 is an improvement from the original Captain which came out about two years ago. While I wouldn’t go out and get this one personally, I wouldn’t avoid it either. It’s a solid power mode mod with some durability. It is not the perfect choice for a starter but on the other side it’s a good device which is working perfectly.
